CLARUS

picture light

This painting light, Clarus, was developed in 1978 by Horst Lettenmayer in Munich. Designed with an extremely minimalistic aesthetic, the focus is solely on highlighting the art through the light output. A warm curtain of light covers valuable paintings, making the artwork shine. Even today, this light is handcrafted and now fitted with LED technology. Over time, the light itself has become an art object. It was awarded art protection in 1987 by the Munich Higher Regional Court. The painting lights can be electrically connected to extend their length and illuminate paintings spanning several meters.
